Regina Scharff

Midwife and alternative practitioner

Born and bred in Wuppertal, I am a child of the Bergisch Land area.
The people and the nature of my homeland are close to my heart.

1992

Midwifery Examination

In 1992 I completed my training as a midwife, after which I originally intended to study medicine. However, I have remained faithful to my profession as a midwife. For five years I worked in delivery rooms in Cologne, Bochum and Bensberg before returning to Wuppertal, where I was employed as a midwife at the Birth Centre for more than 15 years. During this time I supervised births at the Birth Centre as well as at home and in clinics.

since 1993

Training in massage and further advanced courses of training

I have successfully completed various advanced courses of training in massage. Besides ayurvedic massage, I have learned birth-preparatory massages, fertility massage and Arvigo® Therapy.

Since 1993 I have regularly participated in advanced training courses in homeopathy, phytotherapy and hormone therapy.

1996-1999

Basic Training in Chinese Medicine

From 1996 to 1999 I completed my training in "Traditional Chinese Medicine" (TCM) at the University of Herdecke.

2001

Instruction in Western Herbs in Chinese Medicine

I completed an additional course in "Western Herbs in Chinese Medicine" in 2001.
I was a lecturer for acupuncture in obstetrics at the August-Brodde-Schule in Wuppertal.
I have attended the TCM Congress in Rothenburg o.d.T. several times..

2001-2015

Training in Craniosacral Therapy and additional courses

I discovered craniosacral therapy when I myself was treated by a therapist. I was deeply impressed by this method. Never before had I been so deeply moved, since I only knew powerful, in-depth body treatment. I was struck by the respect, empathy and loving care I received and very quickly relaxed on the couch, something I had never experienced before.

I was subsequently on the lookout for advanced training courses in craniosacral therapy for some time, initially attending a course for midwives in 2001 and later expanding my knowledge with Santhosch Weber from 2009 to 2016. I have since absolved further advanced training courses in craniosacral therapy and osteopathy, in particular for infants and for the pelvis, in Cologne and Essen.

2001

NLP-Training

2008

Examination in alternative medicine

I have been working as a naturopath since 2008. In addition to massages, homeopathy and TCM, my focus is on craniosacral therapy as well as osteopathy in pregnant women and self-organized hypnosis.

2011-2013

Hypnosis training plus further specialist seminars and supervision

I completed my training in hypnosis at the Centre for Applied Hypnosis in 2013 and subsequently attended an advanced training course in pre-natal hypnosis. Since then I have regularly given courses in pre-natal care with self-hypnosis techniques at the Birth Centre in Wuppertal.
Further professional seminars and supervision have since followed.

2014-2015

Marte Meo Practitioner training

Developmental psychology meets Marte Meo, understanding babies, supporting parents.

2016-2018

Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®

My most recent and certainly most exotic course of training took me to Belize in Central America, where I was introduced to the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®.
I had first heard about this therapy from a patient. After seven miscarriages she became pregnant again after a Maya Abdominal Massage (Arvigo® Therapy) performed abroad and gave birth to a healthy child, something which caused me to sit up and take notice.

After the introductory course in March 2016, I returned to Belize to participate in the certification course in January 2017, and followed this up with an Advanced Arvigo course in pregnancy support, fertility support and post-natal treatment, which took place in England in November 2018. I am now one of the few certified Arvigo® Therapy therapists in Germany.

Even though I have been working as a midwife for many years and have touched many "pregnant bellies", Arvigo® Therapy has some unique features. Anatomy is always the key issue: the uterus has to be in the optimal position for it to work well, so that the foetus is well cared for and can thrive during pregnancy, the uterus and the pelvic base can open properly at birth, and all organs can regain their original position following the birth.
It was a particularly rewarding experience for me to work with so many women from all over the world to improve women's health.

2017-2018

Gynaecology and Integrative Fertility Treatment in Chinese Medicine

The specialisation course "Gynaecology and Integrative Fertility Treatment in Chinese Medicine" which I took in Offenbach has been a valuable addition to my work with fertility patients.
